Valentine’s Day | A Guide to the City's Most Romantic Spots

With just two more nights until the universal day of celebrating love, if you find yourself a touch behind on the Valentine's Day plans, worry not – we've got your back!

As experts in the language of flowers, we recognise that the ideal setting can transform a romantic rendezvous into an unforgettable experience. We’ve tasked the team with handpicking their favourite natural spots in the city to create a curated guide for the most romantic dates in London.

Penny Lindeque, Head of Events: ’St. Dunstan in the East’

I discovered this hidden gem through a fab instagrammer - @livinglondonhistory. Jack’s a tour guide in London and he blogs about the city’s most beautiful nooks and crannies. I was blown away with St Dunstan in the East, it’s a picturesque ruined church covered in beautiful vines, right in the centre of the city, it's incredibly romantic. As an added bonus, it’s free to visit!

Top tip!
If you’re in the area, don’t forget to look up for London’s tiniest public sculpture - the Philpot Lane Mice, there are many stories of how the mice came to be on this quaint little lane, some a little nefarious, however there's an undeniably romantic charm in searching to spot them!

Kelly Sluman, Operations Manager: ’Highgate Cemetery’

A day out to the cemetery may not be everyone's cup of tea but trust me Highgate is romantic - think Tim Burton romantic. The overgrown foliages, moss-clad monuments and stunningly beautiful crumbling headstones are something, but the history and the architecture within the grounds will truly transport you away!

Top tip!
There are some fantastic headstones to look out for, Karl Marxx’s is impossible to miss and artist Patrick Caulfield’s is brilliant, modern and ironic - I won’t spoil the surprise!

Natalie Best, Floral Event Designer: ’Kew Gardens’

Kew’s not only one of my favourite venues for events it’s one of my favourite botanical spots. The grounds are stunningly beautiful, you could easily get lost in all the little corners. You must visit the Victorian Palm House, it's a real treat for the senses, it’s home to a diverse collection of rare and exotic blooms.

Top tip!
Grab that special someone and head for the tree top walkways, breathtaking views and it’s incredibly romantic.

Emma Forsey, Freelance Marketing Manager: ’Canal boat ride from Little Venice’

I couldn’t believe that there could be such a serene, charming spot in the centre of London until I visited Little Venice and embarked on a canal boat ride through London. A truly perfect date spot it really is a unique (and romantic) way to see the city from a different perspective. At some parts along the journey the canal gets so narrow you can literally touch the flowers and foliages that encase the waterway, it’s so beautiful!

Top tip!
Ensure to book a licensed boat to indulge your Palentine or Valentine with a couple of glasses of champagne as you glide along the canal!
